Jim Kwik gives the following advice to help your memory and your mind.

  1. Good brain diet. Fuel your body with nutritional foods (broccoli, salmon, eggs, veggies). It’s important to incorporate healthy fats, antioxidants, protein, and low glycemic fruits into your diet in some way.
  2. Killing ANT’s (Automatic Negative Thoughts): Your thoughts and self-talk DO matter. Do not let them control you.
  3. Exercise: Move! Sitting is the new smoking. Brains thrive on movement.
  4. Brain nutrients. The most important is DHA 5.
  5. Positive peer group. Surround yourself with people who bring out your best self. This links to the negative thoughts you might be having, does your peer group make you feel bad about yourself (maybe not intentionally) but think about how you truly feel when you’re around them and how you feel about yourself. (Be honest).
  6. Clean environment. ‘Clean space, clear mind’. Your external world reflects your internal world.
  7. Sleep: Reflect on your sleep, how good is your sleep? Sleep consolidates short-term memory to long-term memory. You build your muscles when you rest, not when you workout (it’s the same for your memory muscles). Another reason is sleeping detoxifies the brain, removes plaques. Lastly, your dreams show your creativity.
  8. Protect your brain. During physical activity (rough sports) it’s important to wear a helmet. But more importantly, protect it against EMF (Electro-Magnetic Fields). A simple way to do this is by not having your phone near you when you sleep (or if you do airplane mode).
  9. New learnings. Gratitude and learning daily help with longevity. Reading daily, deep conversations, doing work. You can create neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. A common misconception is when one thinks they know everything and they shut down.
  10. Stress Management. Environmental, emotional, work, cognitive, and financial stress. Analogy:

“It’s like fish who can’t see the water because it’s there all the time.” — Jim Kwik

“Sell your cleverness for bewilderment.” — Rumi

Reflect: When was the last time you had bewilderment?

“The difference between an amateur and a champion, a champion is willing to push past the pain period” — Arnold Schwarzenegger

There’s always going to be a pain period. Either in your business, your relationships, your health, etc.

Have you ever taken a shower and randomly thought of a great idea? That’s because your brain is in a certain mode that helps bring out the creativity which is why your brain sparks such great ideas.
