The question “Are you a dog person or a cat person?” really confuses me. Not the question itself, I understand what a cat is and what a dog is, but the implications of preferring a certain pet over the other. I don’t even know which one I’d pick to be honest. But if one answered the question, what does the person asking it receives. What knowledge can be found from asking such a question. Perhaps it’s saying that a cat is more relaxed and likes to sleep whereas a dog has more energy and is playful. However, what if one were to strive to be a dog but is currently a cat? The question makes no sense since we all view animals differently. Maybe one thinks a cat is calm and collective and another person sees a cat as adventurous and street smart. A cat can be an outdoor cat and live independently where a dog is attached to a leash and is guided by its owner, therefore depend on the owner. There are so many ways to interpret the question it’s pretty hard to answer. Unless the real question was which animal do you like more. Maybe you’re considering getting a pet and that’s why you’re asking the question. But what if you like cats and dogs. To be honest, I’m just lost.
